Fine artist first, designer by evolution.
How Fine Art Shaped My Path Into Design
Painting and fine art have been the foundation of my creative practice and the starting point of my journey into design. I have been painting since 2019, but I have been a creative for as long as I can remember—constantly exploring ways to express ideas visually and build meaning through image-making.
Over the years, I have developed a hands-on, professional art practice, selling work through two in-person events as well as online through Etsy, generating over $2,000 in sales. I have also completed numerous commissioned pieces, allowing me to work closely with clients and translate personal stories into custom artwork.
My practice spans a wide range of styles, including collage-based paintings, pet portraits, landscapes, and realism studies. This exploration has helped me develop versatility and a strong visual intuition, adapting my approach depending on concept and intent. To date, I have created over 100 paintings, ranging from small-scale works to large murals.
I initially entered Cleveland State University as an art major after receiving a scholarship for my painting practice, and through this path I was introduced to design. As I began studying it more deeply, I quickly fell in love with the discipline and chose to pursue design as my focus moving forward.
I am deeply passionate about creating and expressing ideas through visual form. This foundation in fine art has naturally evolved into my approach as a designer. I have been developing my design eye for over seven years, which I see as a strong advantage as I continue to build technical software skills and refine my creative perspective, bridging fine art thinking with intentional, concept-driven design.
Recent Mural
Recently, I was selected as a student artist for a mural opportunity at Cleveland State University. After being chosen, I developed and executed a design concept that simplified and reinterpreted the College of Business building in a clean, graphic form. My approach was strengthened by my experience working with CSU Marketing, where I regularly design within Cleveland State’s brand guidelines for the same audience, colors, and institutional identity. This familiarity gave me a strong advantage in creating work that feels aligned, intentional, and appropriate for long-term public display. The final design was well received, and the client expressed being very pleased with the outcome.
